2011 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

The 599 GTB Fiorano is Ferrari's most powerful V12-engined production car of all time. It features a 6.0-liter V12 engine derived directly from the Enzo supercar, producing 620 hp at 7,600 rpm and 446 pound-feet of torque at 5,600 rpm.

The car represents the latest interpretation of a theme that has seen such classics as the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, and the 365 GTB4. The Ferrari 599 GTB replaces the 575M Maranello, which followed the 550 Maranello introduced in 1996.

The 599 shares a basic design language and much of its chassis with the 612 Scaglietti. Bodywork was penned by Italian design house Pininfarina. Dynamically adjustable MagneRide suspension enables the 599 to offer a smooth ride for cruising, while still taking corners like a track-oriented supercar.
Interior and Materials options include a new Enzo Ferrari-inspired carbon-fiber steering wheel with LED rev display which can be specified along with a special carbon-fiber trim kit for the door panels, instrument panel, gear stick surround and sill kick panels.

A choice of various types of leather trim are available for the seats and interior. The passenger areas of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano are trimmed in leather while the driver area and controls boast more high-tech detailing in carbon-fiber and aluminum.
Some standard features include front bi-xenon headlamps and rear LED lights, dusk and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable steering-wheel column, hideaway radio/CD player and key with integrated volumetric anti-theft device with motion sensors. source

Ferrari: King of the Road

Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles as Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947.

Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has had great success.Enzo Ferrari never intended to produce road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari (literally "Ferrari Stable", and usually used to mean "Team Ferrari", it is correctly pronounced [skude'ri?a]) in 1928 as a sponsor for amateur drivers headquartered in Modena. Ferrari prepared, and successfully raced, various drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was hired by Alfa Romeo to head their motor racing department.

In 1941, Alfa Romeo was confiscated by the Fascist government of Benito Mussolini as part of the Axis Powers' war effort. Enzo Ferrari's division was small enough to be unaffected by this. Because he was prohibited by contract from racing for four years, the Scuderia briefly became Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari, which ostensibly produced machine tools and aircraft accessories.

Also known as SEFAC (Scuderia Enzo Ferrari Auto Corse), Ferrari did in fact produce one race car, the Tipo 815, in the non-competition period. It was the first actual Ferrari car (it debuted at the 1940 Mille Miglia), but due to World War II it saw little competition. In 1943 the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since. The factory was bombed by the Allies in 1944 and rebuilt in 1946, after the war ended, and included a works for road car production. Until Il Commendatore's death, this would remain little more than a source of funding for his racing operations.

Ferrari F70 coming in 2012

As everybody may already know, the exotic Italian automaker Ferrari is busy preparing a successor for their last anniversary celebrating halo super car, the Enzo.

Ferrari F70 coming in 2012
It only makes sense that the future car will be called the F70 in honor of a 70th anniversary and is promised to be unveiled sometime in 2012. The upcoming F70 would compete head to head with other high end limited edition super cars like the Lamborghini Reventón and Bugatti Veyron. There will only be 399 F70s produced and prices will range in the $1 Million region.

With efficiency high on their list of priorities, Ferrari wants to keep the future F70’s weight to a minimum (1000 kilograms), just like the Millechilli. Now this would be a substantial undertaking for any ordinary automaker, but Ferrari is ready to apply every weight saving technique in their arsenal.

While the Enzo was powered by a high revving V12 that made 650 HP, the F70 will use a new direct injection twin turbo V8, quite similar to the legendary F40, with output in the area of 660 HP. This should be enough for the future super car to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in under three seconds and the F70’s top speed will go up to 230 MPH.

Ferrari F250 Concept Cars

The Ferrari F250 concept is a design created independently from Ferrari by Idries Omar.

The F250 has been designed as a lightweight, entry level Ferrari. Reviving the long dead Ferrari Dino model, however the name is derived from the Ferrari 250 GTO. Proposed power for the concept comes from a mid-mounted 2.5 litre V6 engine running on bio-fuel.

■ Ferrari F460 Tifosi Concept Cars

The F460 Tifosi is a proposal for a successor to the current Ferrari F430. Based on the F460 name, power for the concept would come from a 4.6 litre, mid-mounted V8. And, like the F430, the Tifosi's engine is visible through a glass rear hatch.

The 'Tifosi' part of the name is taken from the Italian word for 'fan', and in Italy the word Tifosi is often used to describe the supporters of Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One.

The Ferrari F460 Tifosi is a concept created by Atilla Tay, a Transport Design graduate from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.

The Ferrari F460 Tifosi is similar in size, proportion and layout to the F430, but with perhaps a slightly more slippery profile. The exterior design of the concept is inspired by the shape of DNA, using continuous flowing lines to define the surfaces. The matt black color of the concept helps to emphasize style lines of the concept.

■ 2011 Honda CB1000R

Children, please avert your eyes. Honda has unveiled (pun intended) their new CB1000R, a high-performance and versatile "naked bike," at the EICMA Show. This sassy lady takes its inspiration from the seminal four-cylinder classic CB750K0 introduced by Honda in 1969 and will go on sale in the spring of 2011 with only one exterior paint option available: Pearl Black.

The new CB1000R is powered by a fuel-injected four-cylinder 998cc powerplant tuned for loads of right-now power. Sophisticated Gravity Die-Cast technology creates a mono-backbone aluminum frame that is strong yet features thin-wall construction for light weight.

The distinctive single-sided aluminum swingarm features a single rear shock with spring preload and rebound-damping adjustability for excellent rear suspension action. And there’s a fully adjustable 43mm inverted fork and radial-mounted dual 310mm disc brakes up front. Perhaps best of all, the roomy seating position delivers excellent rider comfort and tremendous versatility for long-distance travel and two-up riding.
American Honda Motor Company’s Powersports Division announced to its dealers today the release of the CB1000R, a high-performance and versatile "naked bike."

"Last week we introduced the all-new entry-level CBR250R and we’re just as excited about this addition to Honda’s lineup for 2011," said Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. "The CB1000R fills a great position in today’s market as we now bring a very capable sport machine packed with high-performance features to riders who focus on street use—wherever and whatever their destination may be. Whether it’s a quick trip down a favorite backroad, a weeklong ride through a few states, or anything in between, the CB1000R is versatile enough to do it all."

Standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), help you maintain control during hard braking. Properly inflated tires are crucial for safe operation, so the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)[3] alerts the driver when a tire's pressure reaches a significantly low level.

Protection
The Accord has been engineered to help protect you and your passengers when collisions just cannot be avoided. In-floor frame rails improve crashworthiness. And our Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure disperses frontal crash energy over a wide area, helping reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment.
Airbags and More
Every Accord also features standard front, front side and side curtain airbags to help reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision. The front side airbags employ a large two-chamber design, and the front passenger's side airbag uses the Occupant Position Detection System to prevent deployment if a child or small-statured passenger is out of position and in the airbag's path of deployment. And active front head restraints help reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries in a sufficient rear impact.

Honda's Safety Philosophy
Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road. Learn more.

An Exceptional Price for an Exceptional Car

SE Sedan
The Accord has always been an exceptional value. And now, with the 2011 Accord SE Sedan, you get even more Honda for your money. Priced at $23,730, the luxurious Accord SE comes equipped with leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
"Best Residual Value"
Ever since the very first Accord was introduced in 1976, quality Honda engineering has made it one of the most reliable vehicles on the road. This high level of craftsmanship results in a high residual value, as well. In fact, the 2010 Accord was honored with the "Best Residual Value Award for the Midsize Segment" from ALG and the "Best Resale Value Award" for the Midsize Segment from Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. We take great pride knowing that the Accord is such an excellent value today, and will be for years to come.
For three decades, Honda has played a leading role in meeting environmental challenges.

Environmentally Conscious
The 2011 Accord Sedan is a fuel-efficient[1] automotive wonder. 4-cylinder models with automatic transmission get an estimated 34 highway mpg[1]. V-6 models get an estimated 30 highway mpg - all of which means the new Accord is even more fuel efficient than last year[1]. And as an added bonus, all Accord models run on regular unleaded gasoline.

ULEV[2] and PZEV[3]-Rated
Honda was the first manufacturer to offer Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV)-rated emission technology[2] on a production vehicle. Today, the 2011 Accord offers the even stricter Partial-Zero-Emission Vehicle (PZEV) technology[3].

[1] 23 city/34 hwy/27 combined mpg for 4-cylinder models with automatic transmission. 20 city/30 hwy/24 combined mpg for V-6 models. Based on 2011 EPA mileage estimates. Use for comparison purposes only. Do not compare to models before 2008. Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle.

■ 2011 BMW 3-series

There are cars we like, and then there are cars we love. Cars we like get good reviews. Cars we love win 10Best awards. After awarding 10 Best trophies to the BMW 3-series for the last 19 years in a row, it’s clear that we’re in love, even through multiple generations and model changes.

Of course, every change made to the 3 could upset, or even destroy, its unique balance of attributes.

Fortunately, BMW has controlled the pace of 3-series evolution, and the regular but subtle styling updates and the phasing in of new technologies have never diluted the driving experience for which the model’s known.

The sedan and wagon models underwent mid-cycle refreshes for 2009, getting off easy with just a tasteful cosmetic nip/tuck and nearly no other changes. Now BMW has released images and info on the face-lifted 2011 3-series coupe and convertible, which involve not just new looks, but also the 335i swapping its awesome twin-turbo motor for one with just one turbo.

Carefully Honed Package

While all of today’s 3-series variants are clearly related, the low-slung coupe and convertible models do not share many exterior pieces with their more upright four-door siblings. And for 2011, the two- and four-door 3-series grow even further apart visually. Up front, the nose has been smoothed and appears lower and wider, thanks to larger apertures for the trademark kidney grille and bigger bi-xenon headlamps. Replacing the current trio of lower air intakes is a squared-off, full-width opening with outboard fog lamps and a pair of horizontal chrome blades that, frankly, might have been better left in the knife drawer. Considering how sharp the current coupe’s front end is, we’re not quite ready to embrace the 2011’s newfound bluntness as an improvement, although we do look forward to staring down some Audis with the Bimmers’ bright new LED “angel eyes.”

The rear end also adopts slick LED lighting, as well as a new bumper, although the bumper is more sculpted, not less. New rocker panels and side mirrors round out the exterior changes. The nose job and butt lift add roughly an inch and a half of overall length, rendering the 2011 coupe and convertible the longest 3-series models ever, measuring about three and a half inches longer than the sedan.

Inside, the 2011 models bear no changes of consequence, other than newly designed (and still-optional) steering-wheel shift paddles for models equipped with automatic transmissions. iDrive remains optional, not standard. Given how well-executed the intimate cabin of the 3-series is, no news is good news.

335i: Same Thrills, Less Guilt

Mechanically, the entry-level 328i coupes and convertibles are carry-overs, with their shared 3.0-liter inline-six continuing to serve up 230 hp at 6500 rpm and 200 lb-ft of torque at 2750 rpm. Here again, no news is fine: there are few roads on which the 328i can’t put a smile on the driver’s face, and the willing engine is effortless in its power delivery. Fuel economy shouldn’t change from the 18 mpg city and 28 mpg highway ratings (the heavier convertibles return slightly less) of the 2010 model, regardless of transmission choice.

Bigger changes, however, were made to the zesty 335i and its sweet, turbocharged BMW six. Introduced just over three years ago, the prodigious and velvety N54 still ranks among the engines we’d deem least in need of improvement. But with an eye on rising emissions and fuel-economy mandates around the world, BMW designed the new N55, dismissing the tag-team turbos in favor a single, twin-scroll turbocharger that BMW claims is even quicker to spool than the twin setup. The N55 also features BMW’s Valvetronic variable valve timing and lift system. Thus endowed and aided by direct injection, the all-aluminum N55 matches the N54’s 300-hp output at the same 5800 rpm. The N55 engine also serves up the same 300 lb-ft of torque, but starts doing so 200 revs lower, at 1200 rpm, and max torque is on tap all the way through 5000 rpm. Redline is 7000 rpm. The 335i sedan also will switch to the N55 as soon as production of the 2011 coupes begins.

More Choices than Ever

As with the 328i, the 2011 335i will be offered with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions. (Sadly, BMW won’t offer the 3er with an N55/eight-speed automatic combo, as is planned for the upcoming 535i GT.) But BMW will continue to make xDrive all-wheel drive available on all 3-series coupes. No matter the transmission or to how many wheels the power is delivered, every 335i promises to be plenty quick: BMW estimates that the manual-equipped rear-wheel-drive 335i coupe can accelerate to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, with the droptop requiring 5.5 seconds. Add another 0.2 second to each time for the automatics. Even quicker is the xDrive-equipped 335i coupe, which overcomes all-wheel drive’s inherent weight penalty and hustles to 60 in a claimed 5.2 seconds in manual form and 5.3 with the auto. Those stats seem conservative to us, as we’ve repeatedly seen high fours from 335i coupes in the past. We expect to squeeze similar numbers from the 2011 model.

So after all that re-engineering, how much fuel will be saved? Disappointingly, BMW had no specifics, saying only that the N55 indeed is both cleaner-burning and more fuel-efficient than its predecessor. And the N54 was no carbon bigfoot itself, with the 335i coupe’s competitive city/highway rating of 17/26 mpg placing it only 1 or 2 mpg down from the naturally aspirated 328i. A significant improvement in fuel economy for the 335i, then, could virtually erase any fuel-economy advantage currently held by the 328i. That’s right, now there’s one fewer reason not to get the fast one.

2011 335is: Another Promising 3

If it’s still hard to fathom how BMW can make so many changes to the 335i’s engine without finding even one additional horsepower, a second turbo with inline-six is planned for the upcoming 335is coupe and convertible, which share many of their performance-enhancing components with the new Z4 sDrive35is. Wrapped in the new body but powered by a pumped-up version of the N54 (twin-turbo) with about 320 hp, the 335is is rumored to get sporty body adornments, a choice of seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual or six-speed manual transmissions, and steering and chassis hardware mods. Complete details on this sportiest of all non-M 3-series are days away, so check back soon for details.

Another Happy Ending?

Pricing for the 2011 328i and 335i coupes and convertibles remains a secret, but given the subtlety of the changes, we don’t expect a huge increase when they hit U.S. roads this March. (Non-M 2010 coupes currently base from $37,075 to $45,425; convertibles from $45,875 to $52,075.) As we said, we’re always wary of any changes to the awesome 3-series, but if history is anything to go by, we probably know how the story is going to end: another 10Best award.
